  16. FACT: NT will slow you down on a 486 / Pentium machine esspecially if the
  17. machine is not optimized to use NT.

  19. Software:
  20. Some things that You might try on your pentium NT is make sure that you
  21. give the foreground running LW full priority.  That means don't run any
  22. other treads if possible. Next de-install all the network junk and drivers
  23. you don't need running. NT runs a ton of network drivers in the background
  24. all the time. -- This may take some reading the NT manual and other
  25. resourse books.

  27. Hardware:for NT Get an OpenGL-- 2 or 4 Meg VRAM PCI 64/128 bit card that
  28. has optimized drivers for NT. My Matrox card has instant response to the
  29. click of any button in LW. No lag time what so ever.

  31. --- Memory  Can your Pentium really access the memory faster than a 486..
  32. some older Pentium manufacturers used cheap methods and built their
  33. Pentiums essentially on 486 motherboards. This will not give you all the
  34. benefits of the Pentium... I believe esspecially with the newer 32bit
  35. programming.   The moral is Research the companies Pentium motherboard to
  36. the point of being a pain.  It may save you money later.
  37.       Another memory thing is if your scene is really big and you go over
  38. your 32- 64meg limit of Ram you can say goodbye to your speedy rendering
  39. because NT will automatically swap to your Harddrive.

  43. PS: I saw Allan Hastings on Thursday and He showed me the Real Release
  44. version of LW: There are many improvements and there will be plugins too.
  45. He has the inverse Kinematics where they have limited angles for each bone
  46. or object. He has implemented a way for us to change our project
  47. directories so we can keep the scenes objects and everything else in
  48. seperate directories for seperate projects. There is now a full screen
  49. preview. Glow is actually there and more.. On the prerelease Alpha the
  50. glow effect button is not there.. although you can render glows if you
  51. find a rexxy way to do it cuz the code is still in it.
